Car Rentals

Rental Cars Guide for Adelaide Airport.

South Australia is a very large and very sparsely inhabited area. Furthermore, almost 80% of its population lives in Greater Adelaide metro area. Outside of Adelaide and especially in the sunny Outback there’s very little in means of public transport, so if you are planning to visit those areas make sure to wear your best shades and simply rent one. You should have a car at your disposal at all times around here.

Adelaide Airport is well supplied with rental cars. Most of the time getting a rental car is hustle free affair, but if your arrival coincides with some of the major event held in the city like Adelaide Festival or Adelaide Fringe (the largest annual arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere) you might not be able to get a car. Check your calendar and book in advance.

Rental companies are located on the ground floor of multi store car park. A detailed map of the floor with locations and entrances and exits can be seen here. The only exception is RedSpot Sixt, which has office space in Arrival Hall inside the terminal.

Rental Companies

There are 6 companies that operate on the airport:

  • RedSpot Sixt -
  • Budget -
  • AVIS -
  • Thrifty -
  • Europcar -
  • Hertz -

Most of these companies (again, except RedSpot Sixt) have offices both on the airport and in Adelaide downtown, so if you are renting a car just to transfer from the airport and aren’t planning on returning there, they can be a handy solution. Hertz, Europcar, Avis and Budget have offices in North Terrace. Some have several locations for convenient drop off, like Budget’s offices in Salisbury and Reynella.

All of the companies have a truck division, if you need to move some heavy load or you are planning an adventure in the Outback and you need a 4x4 truck. These vehicles aren’t usually found at the airport, so you may need to arrange for one to be delivered there before your arrival.
